DR. NEALE was a native make a fuss over London, England, and the newborn of the Rev. Cornelius Neale.

His Mediaeval Hymns give orders to Sequences, published in [1851], fascinated much attention, and furnished data for several excellent and accepted hymns; also, his Hymni Ecclesiae. He had previously, at several times, issued, in three-penny tracts: Hymns for the Young; Hymns for Children, in two series; Hymns for the Sick; Songs for the People; and Songs and Ballads for Manufactu­rers. Sermons for Children (1867) appeared posthumously.

Excessive literary labor, and arduous works of benevolence, wore him out at a comparatively untimely age. He died at abode, August 6, 1866, in her highness forty-ninth year, in humble dutifulness and peaceful hope.

His original hymns have con­siderably of the mediaeval variety which he had so great and faithfully studied.
